Static var generator is a new type of power electronic device used for reactive power compensation, harmonic control and unbalance adjustment.

The basic principle of the static var generator is shown in Figure 2-18: the voltage and current of the compensation object are detected, the command signal of the compensation current is calculated by the command current calculation circuit, and the signal is amplified by the compensation current generation circuit to obtain the compensation The compensation current is offset with the reactive current to be compensated in the load current, and finally the desired power supply current is obtained. Its application can overcome the slow response speed of traditional reactive power compensators such as LC compensators, the compensation effect cannot be accurately controlled, and it is easy to communicate with the power grid. Shortcomings such as parallel resonance and switching oscillation occur. The basic principle is that the three-phase bridge circuit is directly connected in parallel to the power grid through a reactor, and the phase and amplitude of the AC side output voltage of the bridge circuit are appropriately adjusted or the AC side current is directly controlled, so that the circuit can absorb or Send out the reactive current that meets the requirements to achieve the purpose of dynamic reactive power compensation.
