Acrel Demand Management: Optimize Power, Minimize Costs
What is Demand?
Demand typically refers to the average rate of electrical power consumption by a user over a specific period. It is generally measured in kilowatts (kW) or megawatts (MW), representing the average power usage level achieved by the user within a designated time interval (such as 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour—this is known as the demand interval). It reflects the instantaneous degree of demand imposed by the user on the power system.
Maximum Demand refers to the maximum value of the average power during a specific billing period (usually one month) within a defined demand interval. This specific interval is typically 15 minutes, but depending on the regulations of different utilities and regions, it may also be 30 minutes or 1 hour.
Why we do the Demand Management
The logic of demand management is essentially to reduce power—by minimizing simultaneous use of large loads and distributing them across different time periods.
